Megagame Mentors
We know that megagames can be an incredibly overwhelming experience. Particularly the first few times that you go to one. There can come a point where you just don’t know what to do. Perhaps you’re struggling to understand what your role in the game is supposed to be doing, perhaps you’re not fully understanding the rules or perhaps you’re just simply not having a good time.
Don’t worry. We’ve all been there.
As a community we want to help each other to have the best experience that they can from every game. But asking for help is hard. In theory if you’re struggling you should go and speak to Control, and this is usually the best option. But control have a lot on their plate, they might be busy dealing with big important stuff or you might not have a specific control looking after your team or your part of the game.
So if you can’t speak to a control, who do you speak to?
There will be lots of players at the game who have a lot of experience and advice, almost certainly because they’ve been in exactly the same situation as you, and they would be very willing to help you out.
Megagamers help megagamers.
But how do you know who to ask?
That’s where the Megagame Mentor program comes in.
Megagame Mentors are experienced players who want to help you if you’re struggling. They can give you advice on how best to play your role, help you to understand something you’re struggling with, or perhaps even make suggestions for ways you can have more fun from the game. Even if they are on a competing team to you, if you ask them for a helping hand, they will mentally step away from their character and the game and help you out, one megagamer to another.
Look for the players sporting these fetching badges.
Want to be a Megagame Mentor? Great! Get in touch with us, and we will get a badge out to you in the post*. It’s that simple. The badge is our gift to you, wear it with pride and go and help someone be the best megagamer they can be.
Game organisers, how can you get involved? I’m so glad you asked! It’s really simple. While you’re introducing the game in the morning, just mention that there will be people in the game wearing Megagame Mentor badges who are there to help you out if you’re struggling in anyway and can’t find a Control to help. If you would like to go a little extra, we’d love to send a little box of badges to you which you can have at games, hopefully if someone hears you explaining the Megagame Mentors, they will be inspired to join up right there and then, and you can give them a badge!
That’s it, that’s all you need to do. If you’re a newbie at a game, look out for a Mentor wearing the badge. If you’re an experienced player and want to get involved, drop us an email and if you’re an organiser, mention the program at the start of your day.
*Please note, we are only able to physically send badges to UK residents! If you live anywhere else in the world, get in touch and we will send you the image of the badge which you can print in whatever form you wish.
