For decades Danish raiders have been pillaging the coasts of England, but recently the “Great Heathen Army” conquered the northernmost Kingdom of Northumbria. The Saxon kingdoms of Wessex and Mercia are vulnerable and ill-prepared to defend themselves. But the Danish leaders have problems of their own - ambitious lieutenants who want a larger share of the spoils, and the growing influence of Christianity.

As a Saxon aristocrat or Danish raider you will be fighting and negotiating to ensure the best future for yourselves in this chaotic and violent era. Form and break alliances, manage your lands well or burn them for profit - together, you will determine the fate of England.
